Kumar Sharma R, Singh GD, Behera A et al. (2026). Phyto-fabricated gold nanoparticles and heterologous platelet-rich fibrin potentiates cutaneous wound healing dynamics in canines.. Tissue & cell.
This veterinary study tested different treatments for wound healing in dogs with natural wounds. Twenty-four dogs were divided into four groups: one received platelet-rich fibrin from other animals, another got gold nanoparticles combined with moringa leaf extract, a third group received both treatments together, and the control group got standard antibiotic dressing. The researchers measured wound healing by looking at the skin color around wounds, fluid discharge, new tissue growth, and how much the wounds shrank over seven days. They also measured inflammation markers in the blood. The combination treatment group showed the best results, with significantly better wound healing and reduced inflammation compared to other groups. All treatments helped reduce one type of inflammation marker called TNF-alpha. The platelet-rich fibrin alone was particularly good at reducing another inflammation marker called IL-1 beta. The study suggests that combining regenerative medicine approaches like platelet-rich fibrin with nanotechnology and plant extracts like moringa might offer better wound treatment options than traditional antibiotic dressings alone. However, the study was quite short at only seven days and involved a small number of animals, so more research would be needed to confirm these promising initial results.
